HEMISPHERICAL SKY IMAGER (HSI) / ALLSKY CAMERA

On the roof of the institute is a vertically upward pointing camera with a fish-eye lens. The lens has a viewing angle of 180°. Therefore, the entire upper half-space can be captured with one image. Due to the large angle of view, however, distortions of the image occur. The images are stored every minute and can be displayed as a movie. The course of the cloud cover and the wind direction can thus be displayed.
